After School Program
The After School Program began in January of 2004 thanks to the generous donation of the Durham Cruisers Motorcycle Enthusiast Club. The program runs each Wednesday between 3:30pm-7:30pm and is open to all the children involved in the agency. During this time the Big Brothers & Sisters house is the place to be. Children have the opportunity to complete homework, create arts and crafts, shoot pool, play Air Hockey, work on computers, watch movies and, of course, play with the Sony Playstation.
This popular program until recently was made possible through the generous support of the Durham Cruisers, who organized a Poker Run each August to raise funds for our agency. The Cruisers have been incredible supporters of BBSC. At the end of June 2009 this program became funded by the Clarington Recreational Hockey League who donated funds from their Valentine’s Day dance to support the After School Program and the Children’s Christmas party.
The Durham Cruisers and the Clarington Recreational Hockey League are making a tremendous difference in the lives of the children supported by our agency.
