History

The agency was founded by Lionel Parker and Jack Munday in 1977 and has been creating friendships ever sinceOriginally, we were named Big Brothers of Newcastle, but we changed to Big Brothers of Clarington in 1993 to reflect the Muncipality name change.  We started out matching Big Brothers with Little Brothers and have grown to include a variety of different programs, such as the Jack Munday In-School Mentoring program and a Big Bunch program, which serves both boys and girls.  In August 2000 we had another name change.  We became Big Brothers and Sisters of Clarington to reflect the growing needs of the young girls in our community.  We are proud of our achievements and continue to strive to be on the leading edge of the Big Brothers Big Sisters movement in Canada.

Big Brothers & Sisters of Clarington is committed to delivering the highest quality, volunteer-based mentoring programs to the children of Clarington, so they can grow to become positive, contributing members of our community.
